Wim Tissing is appointed professor upportive care in pediatric oncology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Groningen per June 1st, 2019. Wim Tissing affiliated with both the University Medical Center Groningen as the Princess Máxima Center. Both centers work closely together in the field of pediatric oncology. In his research he focuses primarily on the care that is needed to prevent or treat adverse effects of the treatment, in order to keep the quality of life during and after the treatment as good as possible. In addition, better supportive care also contributes to a better chance of survival of children with cancer. Wim Tissing is the first professor of supportive care in pediatric oncology in the Netherlands, with indicates that in the UMCG this is also an important part of the treatment.
Wim Tissing will give his inaugural speech in the Academiegebouw in Groningen later in 2020.
