Molecular targeting and imaging

In the molecular targeting and imaging line, research focuses on the development and/or application of innovative radioactive or fluorescent labelled drugs or drug formulations, with special attention for molecular imaging. This research is not only highly relevant for Medical Oncology, but is also promising for the field of Surgical Oncology.

The aim of this type of research is to improve patient selection and treatment evaluation. In addition, it supports drug development involving mechanistic as well as kinetic evaluations. The research is translational and, obviously, multidisciplinary. Important partners and initiators are the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging department, Medical Oncology and Surgical Oncology.

The research is being conducted within frameworks including that of the CTMM (Center for Translational Molecular Medicine), with participants including Radboud MC, the VU University Medical Center Amsterdam (VuMC), the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU) and industry. There are also alliances with institutes and industrial partners outside the Netherlands. Similar research is being carried out in the field of cardiology.
