The DEL (Dier Experimenteel) Laboratory - in vivo within the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology accomodates several models of renal, vascular and cardiac disease. A large part of our research focusses on the (experimental) treatment of those diseases and has an important link to the Clinical situation within the UMCG as well as to Pharmaceutical partners.
The induced models of renal disease we employ are 5/6 nephrectomy, adriamycin nephrosis and diabetes and the cardiac model of myocardial infarction.
Experimental therapeutic strategies are renal, vascular and cardiac drug- and virus targeting as well as newly developed potential drugs.
Techniques employed at our lab enhold intravital microscopy, in vivo measurement of renal function, telemetry.
Different types of vascular measurements are employed at the DEL – in vitro lab.
