Research Master Programmes

The Graduate School of Medical Sciences administrates three Research Master Programmes (2 years), resulting in the degree Master of Science.

Behavioural, Cognitive and Neurosciences (BCN / Brain and Cognition)

The Research Master Behavioural & Cognitive Neurosciences organized by the Research School of Behavioural and Cognitive Neurosciences (BCN) concentrates on three focal and closely related areas of particular strength within the field of neurosciences: 1. Animal and human behaviour (B-track), 2. Cognitive neuroscience and cognitive modeling (C-track) and 3. Molecular and clinical neuroscience (N-track).

The programme is characterized by its interactive setting, offering the unique chance of a truly multidisciplinary neuroscience education, while becoming an expert in one specialistic track. The programme is essentially tailor-made. Depending on the student’s research interest (or future career aspiration) the student can design his or her own training programme. More information

Clinical and Psychosocial Epidemiology (CPE - SHARE)

The Research Master Clinical and Psychosocial Epidemiology organized by the Research Institute SHARE focuses on the reciprocal relationship between the psychological condition of adults and children and their physical health. The program works on the basis of an integrated approach in which the idea that psychological, biological and social aspects all play a role in any physical condition is central. Research within the CPE program is problem-based and patient-oriented and focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental health problems. The CPE program is characterized by its focus on individual development. Lessons are always given in small groups and students also have the opportunity to choose additional courses to suit their particular interests and aspirations. More information

Medical Pharmaceutical Drug Innovation (MPDI - GUIDE)

The Top Master Medical and Pharmaceutical Drug Innovation organized by the Research Institute GUIDE focuses on molecular and translational medical research, from the pathophysiology of diseases to the development of drugs and how they work. Our University Medical Center Groningen has excellent facilities for (pharmaco)genomics, proteomics and in vivo(animal) and in vitro(cell) imaging. Main components of the programme are two research projects (subjects based on the student’s preference) which culminate in the writing of your own proposal for a PhD project. More Information
