Research and education are closely connected in the inspiring UMCG environment. The research is dynamic and innovative with an ongoing development of emerging programmes and initiatives especially in its central field of expertise, Healthy Ageing. For each Research Programme the relevance for Healthy Ageing is defined.
Healthy Ageing elements are reflected in the educational programme. Students, as future academics, are from the start of their study medicine involved in their lecturers' research. In addition there are throughout your education ample opportunities to actively add the Healthy Ageing focus.
This approach facilitates the UMCG to educate and train a new generation of researchers and clinicians with a focus on prevention and on multidisciplinary collaboration.
In Groningen Healthy Ageing is envisioned as a joint research challenge for the UMCG, the University of Groningen, the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, and various regional, national and international partners.
