GRIAC was very successful at ATS this year, with several awards given to junior GRIAC investigators. Daan Pouwels (EXPIRE group) received an ATS travel award for his work on “Genetic variance associates with susceptibility for cigarette smoke-induced DAMP release in mice”. In addition, three junior investigators were awarded the international trainee travel award (ITTAA), which is a considerable achievement given that only 40 out of ~6000 abstracts receive this prize. John-Poul Ng-Blichfeldt (Molecular Pharmacology group) received an ITTA for his work on “Wnt activity marks lung progenitors capable of forming spheres in vitro”. Jorine Hartman (Pulmonary medicine group) received an ITTA for her work on “The safety and feasibility of re-treating patients with severe emphysema with endobronchial coils: a pilot study”, whereas Haoxiao Zuo (Molecular Pharmacology group) received her ITTA for her work on “Cigarette Smoke Changes cAMP Microdomains in Lung Slices”.

Congratulations to all of them!
