Anita Spanjer from the Molecular Pharmacology group has received the Translational Research Prize from The Federation of European Pharmacology Societies (EPHAR) and the European Association for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (EACPT). Both societies launched a joint initiative to recognize projects of excellence in translational research in pharmacology. Two awards of EUR 1,000 were given at the 25th celebration of EPHAR in Instanbul, Turkey. The award is intended for young scientists and physicians who have published an outstanding research paper in the past two years. The award winning paper was her work on the role of the Frizzled-8 receptor in chronic bronchitis, in which she identified a genetic association between the receptor and chronic mucus hypersecretion and found a pro-inflammatory role for this receptor in vitro and in vivo.
