Research Institute SHARE  is part of the Graduate School of Medical Sciences of the University Medical Center Groningen and of the University of Groningen.
SHARE's mission is to elucidate factors related to health, notably healthy ageing. This is achieved by research on determinants and consequences of ageing, incident disease, quality of life,
care and cure, as well as by training researchers in the area of health research.

SHARE's three main branches are:
1. SHARE Research, conducted within research programs which have their own core themes.
2. A two-year Research Master Clinical and Psychosocial Epidemiology, which is run by the departments of Epidemiology, Health Sciences (sections Health Psychology and Public Health)
and Social Psychiatry.
3. A PhD training program for all PhD students conducting research within SHARE, i.e. for all regular PhD students, foreign scholarship PhD students, clinicians and 'external' PhD students.
The aim is to conduct research and to support the PhD process with tailored modules and skills training.
