The UMCG has one Graduate School, the Graduate School of Medical Sciences (GSMS). The four UMCG Research Institutes collaborate in the Graduate School ensuring that the complete research area of the UMCG is represented. The GSMS encompasses all (research) master and PhD tracks within the UMCG, including the 'Junior Scientific Masterclass’ (JSM), a special track for talented medical Students.
The mission of the Graduate School is to train and educate the researchers of the future and to promote excellent research. This mission is enabled in two ways:
- by the integration of research and education (master and PhD) via the UMCG Research Institutes.
- by the connection with the Graduate schools of other faculties in the Groningen Graduate Schools
