The UMCG is a university medical center where colleagues work together on patient care, scientific research, training and education. The UMCG is situated in the city center of Groningen in a new building that meets modern requirements. The hospital harbors all medical specialties and the latest equipment and most advanced techniques are being used.
The UMCG makes a constant effort to improve patient care. The hospital produces good results in developing new treatments and research methods. The new functions that arise offer extra career possibilities. To give an example: The UMCG is the first Dutch hospital where physicians can specialize to become hospital doctors.
Permanent education
To be able to give patients top care, it is necessary for the UMCG professionals to keep abreast of the latest developments in their field. The UMCG therefore offers many updating and refresher courses, curriculums and training. A large number of facilities contribute to the good working conditions of the hospital's employees as well. For example, the UMCG has a gym, supermarket, facilities for child care and the possibility of flexible working hours. These and other facilities enable a good combination of work and private life.
